Engineering Architecture

University of Kentucky Students:

In order to enroll in correspondence courses, UK students must be in good academic standing. They must have the application for enrollment signed by their academic dean then submit the application, along with the proper tuition payment, to the Independent Study Office, 10 Funkhouser Building.

Students from Other Colleges and Universities:

These students are advised to check with the appropriate academic dean at their school for approval of the selected course(s).

Veterans and Military Personnel:

The University of Kentucky Independent Study Program's courses are approved for the enrollment of veterans and other eligible persons by the Kentucky Approving Agency for Veterans Education. Veterans should contact their local Veterans Administration Officer for information concerning the benefits available and eligibility requirements. Active members of the military should check with their Base Educational Officer for this information. Tuition payment and/or authorization for billing must be submitted with all enrollment applications.

High School Students:

When high school students enroll for college level courses, their applications must contain the signature of the student's counselor or principal and they must meet University of Kentucky selective admission requirements. Students planning to enroll in college after graduating from high school should consult with the college they plan to attend about credit transfer restrictions. The University of Kentucky will accept all credits earned through this program.

University of Kentucky Employees:

Tuition deferral is available for full-time University of Kentucky employees enrolling in Independent Study college coursework through the Employee Educational Program. For guidelines and application deadlines, call 257-3466. The $10.00 service fee per course is payable upon enrollment.

Others:

All other students may enroll either for credit or personal enrichment. Students enrolled for personal enrichment are not required to take a final examination. They can receive a certificate of completion for the course if a written request is submitted upon successful completion of course work. All students taking Independent Study courses for credit follow the same procedures for course work and testing.
