Enrollment Guidelines
- Students may register for an Independent Study course at any time. They are allowed one full year, from the date of enrollment, to complete the course, including the final examination.
- It is recommended that students not enroll in more than two Independent Study courses at one time.
- The University of Kentucky does not award degrees for college credit obtained entirely through Independent Study. Students should contact the academic dean for the maximum number of credits earned through Independent Study that can be counted toward the degree they seek.
How to Enroll in Independent Study
All students need to complete the application card(s) for each ISP course taken. Non-UK students are not required to have signed approvals from their home schools to enroll in ISP courses, but it is wise to ensure that each course will meet requirements at the home school.
